How do you prevent pasta from sticking?
Bad reflexes, bad habits, it doesn’t matter … The same goes for your pasta sticks and you want to know why and especially how to remedy it.
Rinsing pasta with cold water after draining it, or adding olive oil to the cooking water, are two methods often adopted to keep pasta from sticking together … without much success.
The oil can only flavor spaghetti or any other type of pasta, it floats on the surface of the water and has no impact on their stickiness.
The main reason is the lack of water in the pot. Indeed, if the starch present in the pasta does not dilute properly, it sticks to the pasta which has the effect of making them sticky.
The solution is therefore simple: put enough water in the saucepan: count 1 liter of water for 100 g of pasta and stir the pasta well during the first 3 minutes of cooking. This is when the starch gels.
Once your pasta is cooked, drain it, do not put it in a dish and add the sauce on top, all your efforts will be lost in this case! Because on contact with air, the pasta will dry out and stick together.
Pour your pasta directly into the pan in which the sauce simmers.
Your pasta does not stick, and the sauce will be better distributed.
Enjoy your meal !
